Close to the first anniversary of the storm, Kathryn Booth handed over the cheque to NuGen’s long-term charity partner ahead of a week of events planned across Cumbria.

The money was raised by NuGen staff during a series of fund-raiser events held at their offices in Manchester and West Cumbria.

Kathryn Booth, who is chair of NuGen’s Charity Committee said: “A year on and people are still counting the cost of the floods. I’m delighted to hand over this donation on behalf of NuGen and, thanks to the continuous hard work of CYA, we know it’s going to be used exactly where it’s needed most in our community.”

NuGen’s partnership with the CYA was announced late in 2015 when staff picked the charity as a partner for the duration of the Moorside development phase with the aim of supporting the charity’s mission to work with young people in Cumbria to enable them to reach their full potential.
