Adopt a Beck
NuGen is the first guardian of Black Beck in Beckermet Cumbria as part of the west Cumbria Rivers Trust ‘Adopt a Beck’ Scheme.
The three-year project covering both Black Beck and Kirk Beck – two important tributaries of the River Ehen – is working to improve the wildlife habitat in and around the becks. Improvements include tree planting, fencing, willow spiling and tacking invasive species. The project also aims to help wildlife and landowners by managing livestock, stabilising riverbanks; reducing river erosion; and providing good habitats for spawning fish.
